Why is Disney Newport Bay Club the Hotel For You?

Cruising is one of my favourite pastimes. This is one of the reasons I love this hotel. It’s designed in a way that makes everyone feel as if they are near the sea or sailing a cruise ship. Without the sea sickness, of course.

Disney Newport Bay Club is a New England, Nautical style themed hotel with 1093 guest rooms. The hotel is a short walk or bus ride from the Disneyland Paris parks. The hotel has 2 restaurants; Yacht Club and Cape Cod, A Hotel Bar; Captain’s Quarters Bar, an indoor and outdoor pool, a hot tub, fitness facilities, and a boutique.

This beautiful hotel sits perfectly on one of the far sides of Lake Disney. Let’s look closer, starting with a bit of history.

Some Disney Newport Bay Club History

In The Beginning

Alongside Disneyland Paris (known at inception as Euro Disney), Disney’s Newport Bay Club was opened in April 1992. On the 26th of July 2022, Disneyland Paris rebranded all their Hotels. This of course included “Disney’s Newport Bay Club” and consisted of dropping the “s” in the name making it “Disney Newport Bay Club“.

Robert A.M. Stern Architects, using the unique stylings of New England architecture such as white clapboard exterior, porches, woodwork and nautical memorabilia, were the hotel’s designers. This is something he achieved a couple of years before in 1990 at the Walt Disney World Resort in the USA. Disney’s Beach Club Resort and Disney’s Yacht Club Resort both share the 19th-century Nautical and New England theme. An inspiration, derived specifically from the city of Newport, Rhode Island in the US.

The crescent-shaped hotel is set on one of the far sides of Lake Disney directly opposite Disney Hotel New York New York: The Art of Marvel. At opening, the hotel was the largest on Disney Property.

Why Stay or Visit Disney Newport Bay Club?

As mentioned before the hotel itself reminds me of a cruise ship. Something I find pretty funny as cruise ships are supposed to be “hotels at sea”. In my mind thats awesome as it’s full circle. But I digress!

With lots of Nautical memorabilia, long hallways, portholes, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, kid’s area, function rooms, a gym, a large boutique, 2 restaurants and a bar. You could stay here without visiting the parks if you really wanted to. But I would want to go to the parks. 😂

You will feel like you have been transported back 100 years to the 1920’s with this New England, Nautical-themed experience.

I spent a bit of time at the hotel on my last visit and got a lot of footage. I put together a video to give you a feel for the hotel. The video is below and labelled Disney Newport Bay 1.1.

Disney Newport Bay 1.1.

As you can see, the hotel is a very high standard and accurately gives that Cruise ship/ New England, by the sea, feel. This is also magnified by being situated on one of the far sides of Lake Disney.

What To Expect on Arrival

When you arrive for the first time at the hotel, whether you enter via the Lake Disney entrance or the main entrance, on the other side of the building, you will get that transported back in time feel. Arriving via shuttle bus or the Magical shuttle just increases the experience.

At the entrance there are porters and a concierge. Your luggage will be put through a security X-ray machine. The same kind that is used at the parks. Here’s a couple of pics to show its location.

When you walk in through the front door you get a feeling of high class. Straightaway you see a wide balcony with windows that overlook Lake Disney. If you walk up to the balcony and look down you can see stairs and the lake exit. Also below is the Yacht Club restaurant entrance. But we will come back to this later.

On the right, there is the “Compass Club” reception. This is for guests who have upgraded or requested a Compass club room or suite as their accommodation. In a nutshell, this offers, amongst other extras, a private welcome reception, breakfast and afternoon tea in the compass room lounge as well as concierge service.

Walk a bit further and you will find a long hall to the right where the Cape Cod restaurant and Captain’s Quarter bar are situated. You will also find a Convention Center, elevators and access to rooms. Here’s me walking the hallway.

Skipping back to the entrance hall and to the left, you will find the main reception area.

Within the reception area, there is also a boutique. And if you carry on past reception, you will find a small kids, play area, elevators and a hallway to more room. This is also the direction to go if you want to use the pools which are down a floor.

Accessibility

There are elevators throughout the hotel. there is also easy access to swimming pools and other facilities. If you need any help cast members are always around.

Cost and Time of Year

Probably one of the most expensive Disney Hotels in Paris. Once you’ve been there, you can understand why. As a 4-star hotel, Disney Newport Bay Club really lives up to its hype. The cheapest months are September, November and often January. You will find prices as low as £427 per night in the lower seasons and in high season, prices can reach a little upwards of £1000 per night.

Kids Area

There is a small kids area right next to reception. This often manned by cast members.

And when I say, a small kid’s play area, I really mean small. However, in the context of the hotel, this is a pretty sufficient size. Most people with kids are gonna be spending their time in the parks. This is here as an extra activity and in my opinion, it’s a cute little addition.

Rooms

There are many different room types and styles at the hotel all with a consistent nautical theme throughout. I’ve spent a lot of time on cruise ships and I find this type of theme makes me feel as if I’m on holiday.

You can check out all the hotel rooms on the Disney website, which gives a very accurate description of each style and their sizes etc.

Check out the link below to see what’s available.

Visit the Disneyland Paris website to take a look at the available rooms

Heres a few pics of the hallways on the way to the rooms to give you a feel.

Getting to the Hotel

If you decide to drive or take the bus you can use the below address to get you to the hotel via GPS. I’ve also given you a map so you can pinpoint where the Disney Newport Bay Club main entrance is:

Disney Newport Bay Club,
Av. Robert Schuman,
77700 Coupvray,
France

Getting to the Parks and Shuttle Bus

From the hotel, it’s probably quicker to get to and from the parks walking. The quickest route being around Lake Disney and not the main roads. Leaving via the lakeside exit you can turn left or right if you want to walk around the water.

The route to the left is much quicker and less busy to get through security at the Disney Village. If you go right, it will take a bit longer, but it’s a nice route.

If you don’t want to walk and choose to take the shuttle bus it will take 5 to 8 minutes. Certain buses may also stop at other Disney Hotels on the way back from the parks. This will, of course, add extra minutes. Traffic and other factors may come into play too.

There is an additional walking route that goes around the outskirts of the hotel by taking the main road. You pretty much do this until you reach the the parks or main entrance, depending on whether you are coming or going. I did this as a little experiment, but it took a long time. I probably wouldn’t do it again, unless I was exploring.

Make sure you factor in park entrance queues when thinking about travel time to the park.

Here are some stats to show a rough distance using my phone’s live GPS:

Restaurants, Café & Bars

The Disney Newport Bay Club has 2 Restaurants and a Bar.

Choose the restaurant you want below for more detail. If there’s an article here on blugenieblogger.com, you will be taken to it. If not, you will be taken to the Disney Newport Bay Club page on the Disneyland Paris website.

The restaurants feature Seafood and Mediterranean-style dishes but also offer other food types such as Steak. The Yacht Club offers table service and Cape Cod is buffet-style dining. The Captain’s Quarters Bar doesn’t offer meals but has a substantial drinks menu. The menus can be found on the Disneyland Paris website and you can get there by pressing the restaurant links above.

Cape Cod and Yacht Club

Additionally, if you are a Compass Club guest you will have access to some great extras. One of these is the Compass Club Restaurant. I managed to get permission to take a very quick video.

Compass Club Restaurant

Each venue has its own unique menu and theme. You can book a table via the Disneyland Paris APP, website or directly at the venue. You can also book by calling the hotel booking line directly on +33 (0) 1 60 30 40 50. It is also worthwhile noting that you do not need to be staying at the hotel in order to use these Restaurants, Café and bars if you have booked. You can make reservations on the Disneyland Paris App. Compass Club guests should book directly through the Compass Club reception.

Pools, Spa and Gym Facilities

Disney Newport Bay Club has both a Fitness Room and a Pool area. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get any pictures of the Fitness Room on my last visit. But it does exist on the ground floor, on the way to the pool.

As for the Nantucket Pool itself, I did manage to get some pics.

When I went the outdoor pool was closed as it was still winter season. But the indoor pool is very good and lots of fun. As well as the pool, there is a huge ships bow, thats used for viewing, games and is a great addition to the theme.

There’s a hot tub that’s usually quite busy and the pool itself is a nice size. There are also changing rooms and a pool reception.

If you are looking for another hotel with a pool check out my article on Disney Hotel New York New York: The Art of Marvel

Laundry

Disney Newport Bay Club, unfortunately, has no self-laundry room. They do, like a few of the other hotels, offer a paid Laundry service. Contact reception for more details and prices.

If you really need to wash some clothes you should have access to the Laundry room at Disney Hotel Cheyenne. This Laundry room is available to Disney Hotel guests. Here’s a link to my article, “My Wonderful Disney Hotel Cheyenne Experience” for more information

The distance from Disney Newport Bay Club to the laundry room at Cheyenne is a bit of a trek. I personally would only do this in an emergency. If you have a car its no problem. But by foot, you may want to consider other options or wait till you get home. The laundry room is not in the main area but in amongst all the rooms/buildings. Look for the Goldsmiths building and it is directly across from here. Again check out my link above for more information..

The laundry room doesn’t seem to be used much. I don’t think you will have trouble getting onto the machines. There’s also outdoor seating and vending machines for you to take advantage of while you wait.

Bay Boutique

The Bay Boutique is basically in the main reception area of the hotel. It is a large store with Merchandise, souvenirs, costumes, snacks, pins and basically anything you would expect at a Disney Boutique. I try to think of them as mini Disney Stores.

I did a quick scout around and took a video so you could see what it’s all about.

Just a quick mention, if you are looking for ice there are ice machines positioned throughout the hotel complex.

Electric Car Chargers

Disney Newport Bay Club has really stepped up and led the way with EV chargers when it comes to the Disney Hotels. Now don’t get me wrong, other Disney Hotels, do you have chargers. Such as Disney Hotel Cheyenne. But for me, this hotel has really thought about placement within its car park areas. the car park is sectioned and in each section, there are chargers. Moreover, there are EV chargers within these sections that are only for disabled badge owners.

Here are a few pics to help you visualise.

If you can’t get access to the chargers there are plenty in and around the area. It’s worth going for a quick drive to find one. Also, try the ESSO garage near Disney Hotel Santa Fe. They have rapid chargers on site.

Go to CERTAS Energy for information on prices and access.

Standard Amenities

In my experience, Disneyland Paris Hotels provides a minimum standard of amenities across all accommodations available to all guests. Make sure to contact reception if you need more details. Below is a representation of what may be available.

Let’s Round It Up!

Disney Newport Bay Club boasts a 4-star rating. Rightly so too. With its New England style and nautical theme its 2 restaurants and bar, swimming pools and fitness room, the hotel is exceptional.

The hotel is very close to Disneyland Paris and sits around Lake Disney. You can be in the Disney Village in a few minutes by walking or shuttle bus.

If you wish to miss some of the long queues in the Disneyland Paris shops or get a few snacks or souvenirs, you can easily head to the Bay Boutique at the hotel.

The Disney cast members are fantastic, and a great help. Specifically, if you need laundry have a chat with reception and they will be able to give you information.

The kids also have a small play area to have a bit of fun. It’s not huge, but it’s sufficient and manned. So mum and dad can go have a little bit of a rest before or after the parks.

Thanks for taking the time to read up on Disney Newport Bay Club. I hope this has been helpful. If you would like to know about other Disney or Partner hotels in the area feel free to check out more of my Disney articles.

As always have fun.
